Ilina Renkema, LMHC
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with experience in providing individual, family and group counseling in various settings such as residential facilities, community mental health clinics, schools, and private practice since 2007. I work with children as young as 3 years old, adolescents, families, and adults. I am trained in Play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing. Areas of interest include Mood disorders, Anxiety, PTSD/Trauma, Disruptive behavioral disorders (ODD, CD), ADHD, Parenting and Life transitions. I recognize that taking the step to speak to a therapist is a courageous decision and my initial goal is helping you see that there is hope.
I have a collaborative approach to counseling in which I offer my expertise but I also keep clients at the heart of their therapy treatment by actively engaging them in the helping process and acknowledging their resourcefulness, building on existing skills and abilities to construct useful change. I can help you address patterns that no longer serve you and provide a space to face painful realities in a supportive, non-judgmental and safe environment. It is my sincere hope that you will walk out of therapy with more clarity and self-awareness, having found your way to a more fulfilling life.
